Shop Canadian — our policy

Backup Power Lab separates Made in Canada and Canadian-brand picks from imported Ships from Amazon products. As of Sep 22, 2026, we have not verified a Made-in-Canada portable generator or power station on Amazon.ca, and we do not label EcoFlow, Jackery, BLUETTI, Anker, Aceup, PowerSmart, Champion, Generac, or similar foreign brands as Canadian.

Canadian Brand adjacent (prep). The home page now has a Canadian prep brands for outages strip — 72HRS emergency kits and a Crusader Mini weather radio (Canadian company, Burnaby BC). Labeled Canadian Brand only — not Made in Canada (origin/assembly China), and not generators or power stations.

Made-in-Canada and Canadian-brand generators / power stations are still empty on Amazon.ca. Buying guides keep featuring clearly labeled Imported alternatives that actually ship for ice storms, cottages, and condos.

How we pick

Every buying guide leads with Shop Canadian honesty, then a clear verdict, ranked Imported alternative picks, a comparison table, who it’s for / who should skip, and Canada-relevant FAQ. We favour listings that Ships from Amazon and show Prime when available. Scope is portable generators and power stations — not whole-home standby installs as the default answer. Featured Ships from Amazon imported picks were checked Sep 18, 2026 (ET) — prices and badges still change on Amazon.ca.

What “good” means here

Canada wedge

  • Buy Canadian / support Canadian workers framing where truthful
  • Made in Canada and Canadian-brand buckets first — never fake badges
  • CAD pricing and Amazon.ca stock — not US.com screenshots
  • Ice-storm / outage framing (fridge, sump, modem, lights)
  • Fuel storage, propane vs gasoline, condo/balcony bans
  • Winter cold starts, CO safety outdoors, quiet-hours noise
  • Prime / Ships from Amazon language on buy buttons

What we don’t do

  • Invent Made-in-Canada badges on imported brands
  • Invent live Prime badges or fake CAD prices
  • Feature Global Store or unknown third-party-only traps as top picks
  • Push whole-home standby installs as the default “portable” answer
  • Hide who runs the site — it’s Backup Power Lab / Canada Site Ops
