Canada notes: CO, fuel, winter, quiet hours
Carbon monoxide. Generators must ALWAYS be used outdoors, exhaust away from windows/doors/vents. A CO Shield / UL2201 feature is not a substitute for an indoor CO alarm. Ontario winters kill people who “just crack the garage.”
Fuel storage. Rotate gasoline; stabilizer helps; follow local rules for outdoor can storage. Never store fuel indoors near living spaces.
Winter. Cold starts and carb issues are real after storage. Exercise the unit before storm season. Dual-fuel / propane can help when pumps are offline.
Quiet hours & bylaws. Night-time noise complaints are common. Inverters help but do not erase CO or placement rules. This site does not recommend whole-home Generac installs as the portable default.
